Are you looking for a great way to spend some time outside? If so, West Hills, California is one of the best places to be. If you love hiking, you have plenty of options available, and there are plenty of places where you can hike this weekend. Take a look at a few of the top hiking trails and consider asking a few friends or family members to check them out with you.

1. El Escorpion Trail

If you are looking for a moderate hike, you should check out El Escorpion Trail. There is a 1.7-mile loop that goes around the Cave of Munits, and the total elevation change is approximately 308 feet. It is a decent challenge that will certainly give you your exercise for the day, and it should take you between 45 minutes and an hour to complete. If you are looking for something a bit more relaxing, spend some time looking at the birds and views. You will definitely want to bring my camera with you to take pictures of what you see.

2. Mary Wiesbrock Loop Trail

If you are looking for a longer hike that isn't quite as strenuous, you should check out the Mary Wiesbrock Loop trail. The entire trail is approximately three and a half miles, but the total elevation change is only 360 ft across the entire loop. It is a relatively easy, straightforward hike that will probably take you about 90 minutes to finish. You will even see people mountain biking and horseback riding on this trail, so don't hesitate to try a few different activities.

3. Castle Peak

Located in El Escorpion Park, this is a challenging hike that is approximately 1.9 miles. The total elevation change is more than 700 feet, and it is a difficult loop. If you are someone who enjoys rock climbing, you will have plenty of opportunities on this trail. It is also a great option if you are looking for something a bit quieter. You should budget about 90 minutes to finish this hike.

4. East Las Virgenes Canyon Trail

If you are looking for a super long hike that will take several hours to finish, you should explore East Las Virgenes Canyon Trail. It is located in the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve. The entire hike is just over six miles, and it will probably take you between 2 1/2 and 3 hours to finish. Even though there aren't a lot of extreme elevation changes, you should bring plenty of water with you.
